The scene unfolded in front of me, I had the luxury of being able to walk around the ladies and choose a composition where all elements came together. The shot is candid. I love the real dog in the front basket. I have only made minor adjustments to cropping and tonal balance. A visitor to one of my exhibitions told me that the lady on the left is well known in Brighton and that she had bought the toy dog in the basket to keep the other dog company after his companion had died.
